Chairman attending International Wine Tourism Conference9 September 2016
Chairman of the Department of Ajara is attending first international wine tourism conference in Kakheti which is held in Georgia under the auspices of the United Nations World Tourism Organization. Mamuka Berdzenishvili got acquainted with traditional methods of winemaking, experience and achievements of successful Georgian wine tourism companies together with Ajaraina winemakers. To discuss contemporary challenges of wine tourism and presentations of wine tourism in the tourism product development. is also planned within the conference.
Wine tourism is developing in Ajara in recent years. The most popular region Keda in this direction is known for its unique varieties of Chkhaveri and Tsolikauri. Keda wine tour worked out by Tourism Products Development Agency of Department of Tourism of Ajara for the tourists within the municipality, implies interesting wine cellars. Representatives of wine cellars of Ajara are attending first international conference for taking international experience by organization of Tourism Agency.
International Wine Tourism Conference is being held first time and in Georgia. Events are being held in Tbilisi, Kvareli and Chateau Mukhrani. Secretary General of the UN World Tourism Organization Taleb Rifai arrived in Georgia for attending the conference. The event was attended by high-ranking officials from 42 countries (250 delegates, 50% foreign visitors). More than 150 organizations are represented at the event. It started on September 7 and will end today.
