The press tour of Jewish journalists in Ajara28 July 2016
The Department of Tourism has organized the visit of Jewish journalists in the region. The representatives of the leading printed and online editions together with the radio journalists are getting aware with tourism opportunities of the region. While being in the region journalists visited the sightseeing of the city, Botanical Garden, Mtirala National Park and Ethnographic Museum of Kemal Turmanidze. Today they are going to visit Matchakhela National Park and get accustomed with history and culture of the gorge. Also they will have an opportunity of tasting Ajarian dishes.
Department of Tourism and Resorts hosted 20 press tours from the target countries with the aim of popularization of the region. At about 120 journalists visited Ajara within the project. As to Israel, Department is implementing the marketing and PR campaigns since 2012. Department is actively participating in the international exhibitions held in Israel, increasing the number of Israeli tourists in the region. According to the data of the border, the number of Israeli tourists arriving to Batumi International Airport during the period of January - June is 14 times more than the data of the same period of 2015.
