Photos representing the tourism potential of Georgia at Sarpi border checkpoint29 June 2015
By the initiative of the Department of Tourism and Resorts of Ajara, 22 promotional banners representing the tourism potential of Georgia were installed at Sarpi customs, one of the largest border check points of Georgia. These promotional banners along with the sights of the country and the region also provide information about current festivals in Batumi. From now on, tourists arriving from the Turkish border will be able to see along with the beautiful scenery of Batumi, the photographs depicting the mountainous Ajara, Georgian wine and local cuisine, festivals and Georgian cultural monuments under UNESCO protection. All the necessary tourist information is available at the tourist information center located in the same place, at the Sarpi checkpoint http://gobatumi.com/ge/travel-information/tourist-information-centres.
It is worth noting that the largest number of tourists arrives in Georgia through the Georgian-Turkish border via Sarpi checkpoint. The support to the Department of Tourism and Resorts of Ajara in the implementation of the above project was provided by the National Tourism Administration and the Customs Department of Georgia Revenue Service.
