Tourism statistics of Ajara (September)

According to statistics provided by the Department of Tourism of Ajara, accommodation facilities registered in Ajara have recorded an increase of tourists by 1.4% in September 2015 compared to the same period last year.

As for the period of January-September 2015 (9 months), compared to the same period last year, 2,83% increase was recorded in the number of incoming tourists. The positive growth is observed particularly among foreign visitors entering the country via the Batumi International Airport. In September 2015, the Batumi airport has recorded 11 792 foreign visitors, which is 54% more than the same period last year. Such tourist activity in September indicates to extended season tendency, which is also expressed in the prolongation of charter flights in different directions. Based on September flights, the following countries became leaders in the number of incoming tourists: Israel (+142%), Belarus (+101%), Ukraine (46%), Russia (26%) and Turkey (31%).

Based on statistics of the Batumi International Airport as of January-September 2015 compared with the same period last year, the number of foreign visitors has increased by 12% (a total of 64,667 visitors). According to 9 months statistics, the leadership in the number of incoming tourists belongs to the following 3 countries: Ukraine (24%), Russia (13%), Belarus (+ 73%).

As for the national statistics, in September 2015, the number of foreign visitors reached 568,663 people, which is 12.6% higher than the same period last year. Among the tourists visiting the country, the number of those who stayed in the country for more than 24 hours, increased by 15,8% compared with September last year.

In September 2015 the largest increase in the number of tourists visiting Georgia was recorded from Turkey (+ 9.0%), Armenia (+ 6.9%), Azerbaijan (+ 6.0%), Russia (+ 12.6%) and Ukraine (11.7%).

Tourism statistics of Georgia is based on monthly and cumulative statistical studies of crossing the state border of Georgia which are published by the information center of the analytical department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
