Retraining for cooking staff in Mountainous Adjara

Master-classes of preparing local dishes, planning and composing a menu, sanitary and safety requirements and other important topics will be taught at the training course in Khulo. The practical-theoretic trainings for cooks at Goderdzi Resort, Khulo family-hotels and catering facilities were provided by the Adjara Tourism Department, in the framework of the Tourism Development School, for the first time. The owners of the tourism objects in Danisparauli and Goderdzi are studying communication English as well. The chairman of Adjara Government, Tornike Rizhvadze and the head of Adjara Tourism Department – Sulkhan Ghlonti met the participants of the training and talked about the projects of the service improvement in mountainous Adjara.

“The number of tourists in mountainous Adjara is increasing from year to year. For example, last year, 124% more visitors traveled in the mountain, which means that the popularity of mountainous Adjara is growing. Consequently, alongside with the tourism product development we carry out active training programs for guest-houses and other tourism objects be it a management, cooking, communication English, service improvement or other studying program.

They have been involved in the tourist business for several years now and certainly they need some trainings and improvement to be able to offer proper tourist services and products”, stated Sulkhan Ghlonti, the head of the Adjara Tourism Department.

This year, the trainings in mountainous Adjara will be carried out gradually in different municipalities. In total, in the last few years, to improve service in the region the Tourism Department has trained about 2000 people occupied in the sector.
