21-meter lighthouse of Batumi port was constructed in 1882 by a Parisian company.It is an octagonal structure, made of stone and shaped like a house with the optical light equipment installed on it.
The story of Batumi port lighthouse goes back to the period of Ottoman rule in Adjara – to 1863 when Ottoman division of lighthouses built the first beacon by the cape of the Turkish fortress. The second lighthouse was constructed in 1878 after Ottomans relinquished Batumi rule to the Russian Empire.
