Adjara will host the 7th International Birdwatching Festival from September 2 to 7. The raptor migration will be observed by foreign experts, including Tim Appleton, the founder of BirdFair from Great Britain, and Mike Henderson, representative of “Raptor Retrea”.
Within the framework of the festival, study visits to raptor watchpoints are planned, as well as evening lectures and seminars, where foreign and Georgian experts will exchange experiences on methods of conservation and protection of certain bird species.
The Black Sea coast and the neighborhoods of Batumi are known as the Eastern Black Sea Migration Corridor through which about more than one million raptors migrate annually. The region is considered one of the largest migration corridors and ranks third in the number of migrating raptors.
