Tbeloba festival is held in Skhalta-Khikhadziri gorge since 1979. It is associated with the name of a local resident Mr.Tbel Abuseridze, who was a writer, scientist and thinker, social and religious figure of the thirteenth century. On October 17, 2002, the Holy Synod of the Orthodox Church canonized Mr.Tbel Abuseridze and after that the celebration of Tbeloba festival became associated with the day of his memory. This festival involves public figures, scientists, writers, poets, students and school teachers , music and dance ensembles. During the fest, exhibitions of works by skilled craftsmen and artisans as well as sport competitions are held.
