"I live between Saint-Petersburg and Tbilisi and often visit Batumi, where my great grandfather's family lived in the late 19th century. The great grandfather was headed to build the Batumi-Akhaltsikhe road.
The theme of Batumi and its surroundings (Kobuleti, Kvariati) has long been reflected in works of artists like Mamuka Tsetskhladze, Mikheil Shengelia and Vakho Bugadze.
In addition, I have been organizing a creative tour in Batumi for several years specially for my friends from Tbilisi (Tutu Kiladze, Tinatin Chkhikvishvili, Ruso Gigashvili) and from Saint Petersburg.
I thought it would be interesting to create an exhibition consisting of my favorite authors for Contemporary Art Space Batumi, artists which are united by the theme of Batumi.
Most of Artists are engaged in figurative art, but there is an exception, Abstractist- Ushangi Khumarashvili, with whom for the first time I visited Batumi 10 years ago in 2009."
